Response rates for a satisfaction survey

A nice system where the respondent enters a code from the receipt, does the survey and then gets a validation code for a free burger.

A lot of messing around that might give you more "deal prone" respondents, but a nice technique, still.

  1. I am reading a book you might be interested in: Influence by Cialdini (?). In it he says that the competitions where you have write in 25 words or less why you like a product is "indoctrination". In your mind you have to create feelings/words of why you like it, and write it down.

    Do surveys have a similar effect. Has HJ worked out the cost of a free burger Vs the lifetime value of a customer who has been "indoctrinated".
